Stramproy 2022 is on!

We’ve just heard from the Rijwiel Hulpmotor Club, the organisers of the Stramproy cyclemotor-only weekend, that it is definitely going ahead on the weekend of 10-11th September 2022. This event is a must for diehard cyclemotorists, many machines unknown in the UK are present in the Netherlands, there are two runs, one each on Saturday and Sunday, along cycleways and minor roads, the majority of which are flat and therefore ideal for low-powered cyclemotors. The Saturday run is definitely cyclemotors only, even a VeloSolex is frowned on! The Sunday run is more relaxed and period 1950s mopeds are allowed. The heading photo on this site is of the 2019 Stramproy event.

Renewing membership by BACS transfers

When renewing your membership by BACS bank transfers there is no need to return your reminder forms to P4P as they can identify your payment from your membership number. Please ensure your membership number is included when making a BACS payment. A reminder that when paying by BACS please ensure you include the exact full name of the club: The National Autocycle and Cyclemotor Club Ltd. (note the word and – the symbol & is not recognised). Some BACS payments have been refused because the club name was not complete, this is part of banks tightening up on security and fraud. Our bank is the HSBC, sort code 40-47-11, account number 52867664. Many thanks!

Rod Western, Somerset & Avon Section.

We have been advised by Paul Flowers that Rod Western, a long-standing club member, stalwart of the Somerset & Avon section and organiser of the Club stand at the Bristol Classic Bike Show in February, has undergone heart bypass surgery in Bristol Royal Infirmary, having been admitted on Friday 16 July. Rod spent time in an induced coma to aid recovery but was able to smile his recognition when his sister visited him recently.

The NACC Committee would like to join his many friends in Bristol and Wiltshire areas in wishing him a speedy recovery and return to the saddle.

STAFFORD SHOW A GREAT SUCCESS!

Last weekend’s Stafford International Classic Bike Show was a great success, despite very variable weather which must have put off some visitors. It is the first Mortons-organised show since the February 2020 Bristol Show at Shepton Mallet, after which the pandemic saw off all shows planned for that year and postponed the April 2021 show until now. A full report will be published in the August issue of Buzzing.

John Burgess won the Best Autocycle award for his replica RAF Norman autocycle, a model much used on airfields for getting about, including Guy Gibson VC; a photo of him and his dog was displayed on the information board stand. Well done John!
