The NACC stand at the Bristol Classic Bike Show proved hugely popular with visitors, we had no less than 22 bike of all kinds – cyclemotors, autocycles, mopeds and some very fine Italian exotica on display. Three awards were won; Best Cyclemotor/Autocycle for John Burgess’s 1964 Ducati Piuma (yes, we know it isn’t a cyclemotor or autocycle, but that’s what was awarded!), Joe and Jenny Skinner took second place in the Continental machines, awarded for their very fine 1959 Gilera Giubileo 98, and Nick Devonport won Highly Commended for his Poirier Manulette Mobylette-powered 3-wheeled invalid carriage. The stand was crowded both days, with enthusiasts asking questions about their favourite make of cyclemotor/moped. We did our best to provide adequate replies!

We’ve just heard from the Rijwiel Hulpmotor Club, the organisers of the Stramproy cyclemotor-only weekend, that it is definitely going ahead on the weekend of 10-11th September 2022. This event is a must for diehard cyclemotorists, many machines unknown in the UK are present in the Netherlands, there are two runs, one each on Saturday and Sunday, along cycleways and minor roads, the majority of which are flat and therefore ideal for low-powered cyclemotors. The Saturday run is definitely cyclemotors only, even a VeloSolex is frowned on! The Sunday run is more relaxed and period 1950s mopeds are allowed.
