Kent, Sussex & SE London Section

Above, a very wet and windy departure for Saturday’s run in 2018.

We are loosely organised by me, Nick Devonport. I do my best but keeping a road run together is a bit like herding cats! I can be contacted on 07833 623630, by post at 28 Bridgeside, Deal, Kent, CT14 9SS or by email nick_devonport@hotmail.com.

We support local events run by the Dover Transport Museum and it’s thanks to one of our guys, Andrew Johns, that some of the mopeds in their collection are now in running order. We welcome new members and look forward to seeing friends old and new at our events.  Our newest member, Dave Redknap, joined us after hearing the siren call of three Norman Nippys for sale on a local Facebook group.  Welcome to the fold!

Our calendar for 2109 continues with:

Barham Vintage Weekend- June 22/23. Clipgate Farm, Denton, Canterbury, Kent, CT4 6NS. A static display of our machines, no road run. This is a charming low-key country fayre with all the usual attractions – classic bikes, cars, tractors, stationary engines and steamers. There will be a Real Ale bar for thirsty exhibitors and a burger van if the ale needs soaking up. Free entry and camping for exhibitors. Facilities, though, are basic, even compared to Headcorn, and consist of water points, portable toilet blocks and cold water wash sinks. Please contact me for an entry form and return it to me by the end of May latest so that I can submit a bulk entry.

Nick’s Summer Camp- July 19/20/21. Kingsdown International Camping Centre, The Avenue, Kingsdown near Deal, Kent, CT14 8DU. Call the site direct on 01304 373713 and tell them you’re with the Cyclemotor Club. You’ll need to book a late departure for the Sunday as we won’t be back before the normal chuck-out time. Road runs on Saturday (11.00 for 12.00 away) and Sunday (10.00 for 11.00 away).
Headcorn Aerodrome Run in September date to be announced.

Headcorn Aerodrome Run – September 21/22.  Our season closer at Headcorn Aerodrome, Shenley Road, Headcorn, Kent, TN27 9HX.  Basic but cheap camping, plenty of activity on this busy site: hot air balloons (if you’re up early enough), Spitfire take-offs and landings, parachutists, microlights and more!  Oh, and we’ve got a couple of road runs, too.  Saturday after lunch and Sunday 10.00 for 11.00 start.

Several of us also meet up with the East Kent Classic Motorcycle Club on a Wednesday evening for a coffee and a burger (not a word to Is please!) at the East Kent Railway.  The venue alternates between the Shepherdwell and Eythorne sites so contact me for the location.  Time: 1800 – 2000ish.  Come and say hello!
